The latest numbers on how many people are facing acute hunger worldwide will be revealed on Tuesday, 2 April 2019, in Brussels at the high-level launch of this year's edition of the Global Report on Food Crises.
The Global Report brings together regional and national data and analysis to present the latest global picture of acute food and nutrition insecurity and its trends and drivers. It is a flagship global publication providing humanitarian and development actors with vital insights to inform their programming, policy and financing decisions.
The report launch takes place during the opening session of the two-day High-level Event ‘Food and agriculture in times of crisis' hosted by the European Commission on behalf of the Global Network Against Food Crises. Participants will discuss a range of approaches and solutions for preventing and addressing food crises. It will chart out a road map for joint action by Network partners for years to come.
The Global Network is a partnership of organizations working to tackle hunger by strengthening links between humanitarian and development organizations. Partners include the European Union, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), among others.
More than 400 people including representatives from governments, non-governmental organizations, regional and international organizations, farmers' organizations, academia, and the private sector are expected to attend the event.
