The Egyptian government has announced the launch of Phase Four of the presidential initiative “100 Million Trees” in New Valley Governorate, as part of the state’s plan to expand green spaces and improve environmental quality across all governorates.
The new phase was inaugurated in the presence of Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, and Alaa Farouk, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, along with the Governor of New Valley and several executive officials.
According to a report published by Egypt Today, more than 545,000 fruit and timber trees have been planted during the previous phases of the initiative, while the current phase aims to plant an additional 100,000 trees within the governorate.
The initiative seeks to increase per capita green space, reduce harmful gas emissions, and improve air quality, in addition to beautifying cities and urban areas and raising awareness about the importance of environmental preservation.
The “100 Million Trees” initiative is considered one of the most prominent national efforts supporting sustainable agriculture and climate change mitigation in Egypt. It also contributes to the country’s efforts toward green development and the achievement of the goals of Egypt’s Vision 2030
