๐ฑ Producing Peat Moss and Biofertilizers from Waste
Dr. Mohamed El-Khouly, Director of the Soils, Water and Environment Research Institute, announced a partnership with the private sector to produce peat moss and biofertilizers from organic waste.
The initiative aims to supply 20–25% of nitrogen fertilizers needed for old lands and 15% for new lands, reducing reliance on imported chemical fertilizers.
๐ Developing Local Poultry Breeds
The Agricultural Research Center explored cooperation with the private sector to develop local poultry breeds that can withstand Egypt’s climate.
This aims to achieve self-sufficiency in poultry meat by multiplying local breeds of parent and grandparent stock.
๐งช International Cooperation in Potato Seed Production
The Horticultural Research Institute welcomed a Korean expert to help transfer potato seed production technologies and test Korean potato varieties in Egypt.
This initiative is part of a collaboration between the institute and Kangwon National University in South Korea.
